This trip is designed for all who love art, from the beginning art enthusiast to the master painter. Art appreciation and mobility were of utmost importance in planning this trip. As such, groups are limited to no more than 6 people and there is plenty of time reserved for exploring the city independently. Guests will stay for six nights in a beautiful, intimate Roman hotel.
Three mornings will be spent touring many of Rome’s most prominent art venues and discovering many of the city’s hidden art treasures. A common focus will be on master works by Bernini, Borromini, and Caravaggio. Enjoy three evenings of plein aire painting with demonstrations, instruction and group critiques. Spend one morning learning how to mix your own paints and gesso, based on a classical palette, from fine Italian chalks.
Jan is part of a group of painters called the “Vermont Luminists”, and is known for her ability to portray light in her paintings. She paints en plein aire and believes painting in the early morning or at the end of the day captures the strongest light and atmospheric effects.
